The family of the late Michael Moustafa donated his model railroad creations to the NWV Model Railroad Association, Inc. in July 2021.  During his life, Michael had been a prolific modeler of miniature railroads.  As a carpenter by trade, Michael knew the basics for making structures but his artistic side allowed him to bring those tiny structures to life by adding fine details.  It was a labor of love consuming many solitary hours perfecting the look that he was going after.  His modeling was a recreation of life in the 1930’s which he studied through old photographs and by looking at structures still in existence from that time period.

The NWV is grateful for the generosity of Michael’s family in making this donation.  The structures will go on to be used on other train layouts around the country and the NWV layouts.  These structures are disappearing in real life but are timeless in miniature. They model life when the railroads were the primary means of freight and passenger transportation in our country.  The NWV works to preserve such work and to pursue its mission to educate and promote the art of model railroading for future generations.
